The Cranbury Township School District has launched a district web page to keep the school community and township residents informed of the progress of the referendum plans.

The dedicated webpage can be found on the district’s website and provides information on each of the projects approved in the referendum and an expected timeline for the start of construction on each project and the expected month of completion.

“We are thrilled to share this journey with the Cranbury community,” school board chair Pramod Chivate said in a statement. “These projects represent an important investment in the future of Cranbury School, and we are committed to respecting community support by committing to timely and transparent updates.”

Voters in the township approved the school referendum – 557 “yes” and 328 “no” votes – on December 14, 2021.

Construction on the first Referendum Project is scheduled to begin March 1, 2023, which includes renovations to the main office and nurses’ suite. Projects are expected to be completed by September 4, 2023.

The new office will create more space for meetings and provide more security. The current main office is a multipurpose space. Teachers receive mail, deliveries and hold confidential meetings in this area, school officials said.

A security vestibule will be constructed as part of the project. The nurse’s suite is undergoing a renovation to increase space and allow for a separate area for students’ school health records.

The Academic Commons is another project with construction scheduled to begin on March 1, 2023. The project is also expected to be completed by September 4, 2023.

The area space was once the home of the Cranbury Public Library. The academic commons will have a creative space and a media center, school officials said.

After the initial plans, there is the construction of the greenhouse classroom which will contain the Cranbury Schools aquaponics system in an outdoor courtyard.

The project is scheduled to begin on June 20, 2023 and end on September 4, 2023. Middle school locker replacement will also take place during the life of the project.

A new arts education center is scheduled to begin construction on June 20, 2023, and completion is expected to be September 2, 2024.

The Center solves the school’s current problems with seating and stage space, which is limited in the current combination of gymnasium and auditorium, school officials said.

The space, which can accommodate 600 people, is not only for the school community, but also for residents of the Cranbury community.

The Center will allow students to work with a virtual screen for productions and performances, have audiovisual and visual arts, graphic arts, broadcasting, dance, costumes, scenography and construction, depending on the school district.

Referendum plans for a new parking lot and black roof behind the school are scheduled to begin June 20, 2024 and are expected to be completed by September 5, 2024.

Renovation and construction of science classrooms for the middle school begins June 21, 2024, and expected completion is September 5, 2024.

The project includes two middle school science classes. One science classroom will see upgrades to its lab stations and a second classroom will have separate lab stations installed.

“We welcome open and honest dialogue throughout the process,” Chivate said. “These spaces are meant to benefit our students and our community, and we believe the community should be well informed about the progress of their investments.”

In other school construction news

Construction of a new auxiliary gymnasium is underway and continues to progress, according to the school district’s mid-August message.

“The hallway display cases have been removed and filled with blocks. The subfloor is finished and cured. The exterior door frames are in place. The CMU (concrete masonry unit) block is being installed to begin the construction of the exterior walls and the contractors have started the electrical work,” according to the post.

The gymnasium is located near the existing school gymnasium and is funded by the school district’s capital reserve fund. The auxiliary gymnasium will be used for physical education classes, inclement weather and student arrivals, according to the district.

TORONTO, August 31, 2022 /CNW/ – In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day today, the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) reaffirms its call that the Ontario the government must urgently respond to the opioid overdose crisis. To prevent deaths, the RNAO is calling for increased access to supervised consumption sites and a decrease in the supply of toxic drugs. Without preventive measures, from Ontario overdose crisis will continue to deepen and kill.

In 2021, an average of eight people died per day due to accidental drug overdose, an 88% increase from 2019 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s not just a statistic. It’s eight people a day who have loved ones grieving over a terribly tragic loss. The system hasn’t protected them,” said RNAO President Dr. . Claudette Holloway. “To avoid further deaths, the Ontario the government must urgently adopt a harm reduction approach that supports the decriminalization of simple possession and ensures a safe supply through accessible supervised consumption sites. »

In response to this deepening crisis, the RNAO has reissued its Action Alert today for all Ontarians to sign and share. He calls on the provincial government to put an end to the overdose crisis once and for all. Government inaction continues to cost lives.

“I live the reality of realizing an accidental drug overdose every day after losing my 18-year-old son, Austin, to fentanyl in June 2020“, says the registered nurse Kathy Moreland, president of the Waterloo chapter of the RNAO. “He fell through the cracks of a broken system.” Moreland says she is one of many families who have experienced grief from an accidental overdose, and government intervention is desperately needed to prevent further tragedy.

“Harm reduction involves upstream prevention through various means: housing and mental health support, education, safe supply for those who are not ready to stop using, consumption and treatment services, decriminalization of possession minor and appropriate, accessible and evidence-based treatment available for those who are ready to recover. We need to do better,” adds Moreland.

Another way the RNAO is marking International Overdose Awareness Day and sounding the alarm about the need for more support is by releasing its new webpage In Focus: Best Practices in Healthcare Program mental and drug addiction.

“In Focus puts the issues that matter most to nurses and Ontarians under the microscope, and highlights RNAO’s extensive work, advocacy and partnerships to find solutions. Providing support to people dealing with mental health and/or addiction issues will always be a top priority for nurses. says RNAO CEO Dr. Doris Grinspun. “We will continue to work with our members and government to provide mental health and addictions supports that take a compassionate, person-centered approach. Individuals and their families need to know that help is readily available and easily accessible. only barrier to preventing death and accessing treatment if and when people are ready,” adds Grinspun.

You don’t have time to read entire pages when doing research online. Here’s how to search for a specific word on a web page.

What if you need to find a specific word on a webpage but don’t want to read the whole article to find it? Luckily, all browsers on your phone and computer include a “Find on the page” characteristic.

It allows you to search for a specific word on a web page. Not only will it find the first word on the page, but it will find all specific words, provide a count, and highlight them on the page.

You can find the word quickly if you are writing an academic paper or researching a topic online. Here’s how.

How to search for a specific word on a webpage

Quickly finding the specific word you want on a page improves your workflow so you can get things done. We will look at searching for a particular word on your desktop browser.

To note: This keyboard shortcut works on all major browsers including Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and the Brave browser.

To search for a specific word on a webpage:

  1. Launch your browser on the desktop.
  2. Then navigate to the website you want to search.
  3. Hurry CTRL+F (Command + F on Mac) on your keyboard.
  4. A search box will appear (its position varies between browsers) – you can type in the word you are looking for.Search for a specific word on a web page
  5. For example, here we are looking for deputy, and all mentions of it in the article are highlighted. Click the down or up arrow to find more results. Alternatively, press the Walk in key to go to the next result.How to search for a specific word on a webpage

Use the menu to search for a specific word on a web page

You can also use a browser’s menu system to search for a specific word on a web page. Browser menus vary slightly, but the idea is the same in all major browsers.

  1. Click the menu button in the upper right corner of the browser.
  2. From the menu, select “To find” Where “Search in the page.”How to search for a specific word on a webpage
  3. Like using the keyboard shortcut, the search box will open and you can search for the word or term you need.How to search for a specific word on a webpage

It is worth mentioning that the Firefox search box opens at the bottom and includes additional search functionality.

How to Find Specific Words on Mobile

It is possible to search for a specific word on a web page on your phone, but there is no keyboard shortcut.

To search for specific words in Safari on iPhone:

  1. Launch Safari on your iPhone and tap the Share button basically.How to search for a specific word on a webpage

  4. You will see the word count on the web page and you can press the up or down arrow buttons to navigate the site.How to search for a specific word on a webpage

Of course, the process is a bit different if you’re using another browser like Chrome.

To search for specific words in Chrome on iPhone:

  1. Press the three dot button in the lower right corner of the browser.iPhone Chrome menu
  2. Faucet Search in the page from the menu.How to search for a specific word on a webpage
  3. Type the term you are looking for and press Come back on the keyboard.
  4. The number for that specific word will appear, and you can press the down or up arrow to navigate to the next or previous, just like on a desktop.Search on the Chrome iPhone page

The steps for Chrome on Android are quite similar. You will also find that these steps work for other Chrome-based mobile browsers on Android.

To search for specific words in Chrome on Android:

  1. Press the menu button in the browser.
  2. Select Search in the page and search for the word you need.Search on the Chrome iPhone page

Searching for words on a web page

If you do a lot of web searching, having the ability to find a specific word is crucial. It lets you find places on the page faster and provides an easier way to find. Also, finding a particular term on your phone is a handy trick.

As for desktop browsers, you might not want to use Edge on Windows. For example, you can learn more about changing your default browser on anything on Windows 11. If you’re an Apple user, read how to add a website to the home screen.

How to render Markdown on a webpage with md-block https://searchdesk.org/how-to-render-markdown-on-a-webpage-with-md-block/ Mon, 15 Aug 2022 07:00:00 +0000 https://searchdesk.org/how-to-render-markdown-on-a-webpage-with-md-block/ Markdown’s simple syntax makes it a great alternative to HTML. Markdown’s simple syntax makes it a great alternative to HTML. The language has always supported embedding HTML, but now you can go the other way and embed Markdown into HTML.

Using a simple library, you can host Markdown embedded in your web pages and convert it to proper HTML on the fly.

What does md-block do?

Your current process may involve manually creating Markdown files and then converting them to HTML. This is how many modern CMS applications work. Or you can use a framework like Angular to render Markdown in pages.

The md-block library is not strictly an alternative; instead, it fulfills a slightly different use case. It converts online Markdown to its HTML equivalent. You can embed Markdown in your HTML files and render it on the client, when requested.

Here’s what it might look like:

<html>
<head>...</head>

<body>
<md-block>
# Heading
Some *embedded* Markdown which `md-block` can convert for you!
</md-block>
</body>
</html>

It’s a good idea to left-align your embedded Markdown code, without any leading indentation. This is because leading whitespace can be important in Markdown, unlike HTML.

The library introduces its own custom HTML element, md block. Although this element is not part of the HTML standard, it is a valid technique. The Web Components (MDN) standard includes an API called Custom Elements. This API supports dynamic registration of custom elements using JavaScript.

Before loading the md-block library, this page will be displayed in a familiar way:

Of course, you can style the md-block element to look more like a text editor. With preformatted whitespace and a monospaced font, it’s at least a little easier to read:

<style>md-block { white-space: pre; font-family: monospace; }</style>

You might want this type of output if you’re writing a Markdown tutorial. It allows you to explain Markdown syntax while allowing you to easily modify your Markdown example:

But md-block’s trick is to convert this Markdown to final HTML.

Even with the default browser styles, content now renders as your usual HTML, even if you’ve sent it to the browser as Markdown:

How to use md-block

Once you have added the md-block library to your page, you can write your Markdown in md block elements. The library will then automatically format your Markdown and you can continue to integrate Markdown as needed.

There are, however, a few variations of this process.

Source the script remotely or install it yourself

The easiest way to get started is to reference the library from the official md-block website:

<script type="module" src="https://md-block.verou.me/md-block.js"></script>

It might not be the most efficient approach, but it’s definitely the fastest. Just add this code to your head and your page will automatically display everything inside an md-block element in HTML:

You can, of course, download this JavaScript file and host it on your own site. Or you can install it via npm:

npm install md-block

Markdown Blocks vs Markdown Online

The default item, named after the library itself, is md block. But you can also use a md span element for inline Markdown, such as text in the middle of a sentence:

The inline Markdown use case is probably less common, but you can still use it:

<p>An HTML paragraph containing <md-span>*italic*</md-span> text.</p>

How to highlight syntax in Markdown code blocks with Prism

Prism is a syntax highlighter co-created by md-block creator Lea Verou. You can use it to highlight preformatted blocks of code in a web page, including those generated by md-block.

So, with this HTML:

<html>
<body>
<md-block>
```javascript
function square(number) {
return number * number;
}
```
</md-block>
<script src="prism.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

You’ll see well-formatted code with syntax highlighting:

Your options for writing online just got bigger

How you use md-block is up to you, but there’s a lot of potential for inventive solutions that use it. You can use it to run a very lightweight CMS for writers who are comfortable using Markdown, but not HTML.

Markdown is a perfect language for a general audience. Its adoption by tools like Slack will likely increase usage even more.

By SHANNON O.WELLS

The inaugural report on Pitt’s commitment to include environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in the management of its consolidated endowment fund now has its own dedicated webpage. The online site provides a user-friendly portal and overview showing how these factors are factored into Pitt’s investment decision-making process.

“The goal of the new ESG webpage is to clarify how ESG factors are applied in the University’s Consolidated Endowment Fund (CEF) investment decision-making process,” said Jeffer Choudhry, Pitt’s chief investment officer. “We hope the university community sees the new page as an effort to improve overall awareness of this important topic.”

Officially launched in July, the page highlights the ESG report originally published in March. The report outlines the goal of “fully integrating” ESG factors into the University’s decision-making processes based on “the fundamental belief that supporting responsible business practices also promotes strong investment results” , indicates a statement on the page.

The report is derived from Pitt’s official ESG policy statement, adopted in March 2020, which clarifies how ESG factors are integrated into endowment investment-based decisions. It also discusses the Pitt Endowment’s fossil fuel investment exposure as determined by the Board’s Fossil Fuels Ad Hoc Committee.

The webpage explains that the inaugural ESG report has been delayed to accommodate fiscal year 2021 investment statements as well as the process of hiring a chief investment officer. Choudhry was hired in January to replace Gregory Schuler, who stepped down in 2021.

Hari Sastry, Pitt’s senior vice chancellor and chief financial officer, noted earlier that while the report itself is new, the university has incorporated many ESG-focused concepts into its investment practices since 1990. Choudhry explained that “Pitt’s ESG policy builds on this approach and ensures a more consistent and comprehensive approach to evaluating investment opportunities for endowment.

The University’s investment exposure to fossil fuels has recently declined, in part due to the decline of energy companies in public markets and Pitt’s declining investment in private markets. The report shows a decline in the Endowment’s total portfolio exposure to fossil fuels from 10% as of June 30, 2015 to 5.9% as of June 30, 2021. The latter figure reflects Pitt’s total exposure to fossil fuels, with 1.4% of this public exposure. – commercial and 4.5% private investments. Figures for the 2021-22 financial year ended June 30, 2022 will be available in September.

“As mentioned in the ESG report, private holdings are expected to drop to zero by 2035 as our investment managers liquidate them over time,” Choudhry said. “The public share is likely to fluctuate depending on the energy companies listed on the stock exchange.”

The report also notes that the Finance Office has not made any new fossil fuel investments since February 2021, when the ad hoc committee’s report was released. “Fossil fuel exposure in CEF’s public market holdings is expected to remain low as fossil fuel exploration and production is expected to continue to become less attractive over time,” he said.

“We know and expect that CEF will generally fluctuate with the broader market,” Choudhry noted. “Fortunately, the University has the advantage of being a patient long-term investor who can ride out short-term swings. We also benefit from a partnership with talented third-party investment managers who can take advantage of these fluctuations to help mitigate risk.

While the report notes that the investment industry’s lack of quantitative measurement standards limits the usefulness of the ESG report and Pitt’s ability to assess progress, Choudhry said the value of the report is substantial and will increase once these limitations overcome.

“The ESG report is an important step in our efforts to increase the transparency of our investment processes,” he said. “This report includes more information about endowment investments than (Pitt has provided) in the past. We look forward to the day when there is a standardized set of industry-established metrics for evaluating ESG investing. As these standards are developed, we will explore their inclusion in future reports.

To be on par with peer university endowments, Pitt’s finance office hired an advisory firm focused on sustainable investing to advise it in developing ESG policy. The office reviewed ESG and/or socially responsible investment (SRI) policies published by 19 public and private peer universities, including those with similar endowments.

Factors Pitt considers when assessing investment risk include energy efficiency, hazardous materials management, climate change, water and land management, data protection and privacy. , human rights, labor standards, product safety, accounting and auditing standards, bribery and corruption, business ethics and regulation. compliance, the website says.

“Pitt is one of the first public universities to publish an ESG report, and we want to improve awareness and understanding of the endowment’s investment practices,” Choudhry said, adding that he meets regularly with key student organizations and was speaking to the Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Sustainability. in June with the aim of improving “overall awareness” and creating ongoing dialogue. “I look forward to continued engagement with the Pitt community on our ESG efforts.”

Most of the time that we are in front of a computer, we use it to surf the Internet and the truth is that we tend to use the same pages more or less always, visiting several of them several times a day.

The way to access these pages currently is to open the browser and type the address or if we have it in the favorites, we must access it and find where we have saved this website.

Well, maybe there is a faster way to access these pages and that will allow us not to waste so much time when it comes to having them on the computer screen.

It is a much simpler way than you can imagine and it is simply a matter of having shortcuts on the computer desktop to be able to access the pages we want.

Added to this is that we can make the specific browser that we have configured open, because as you well know, sometimes a website works better in one browser than in another.

Once we have created these shortcuts, the only thing we will have to do is double click on them and thus open the specific browser with the page we have selected.

It is a really comfortable and fast solution so that our favorite websites are always at hand and we can access them directly with the software that best suits this type of page.

Let’s see how we can do it.

Direct access in every browser under Windows

As we have already mentioned before, we can create a shortcut to open our favorite browser. In each of them this method is carried out in a different way, so we are going to see which ones are most used to be able to carry out this task.

Although we are going to see how to generate these shortcuts so that they are placed on the desktop of Windows 10 and Windows 11, the truth is that this access can then be moved to the taskbar to have it in this part of the system. operating If we want .

Google Chrome

As Google Chrome is the most used browser today, it is the first that we are going to know how to generate direct access to a web page that is placed on the desktop.

Here is what we should do:

  • The first thing will be start google chrome then click on the three vertical dots (menu button) at the top right of it.
  • When we have pressed the menu button we will see how several options appear, having to click on More tools.
  • In the drop-down list that appears, we will have to click on To create a shortcut.
  • Now we just have to put the name and press Acceptthen see that the direct access to this website appears on your desktop.

There is another method by which we can achieve the same task in Google Chrome.

The steps to follow are as follows:

  • To have to keep the page open that we want in the Google Chrome browser.
  • When that happens, we will hold down the padlock icon which appears next to the website name at the top of the browser, for later drag it to the desktop in an area where there is no icon.
  • This will automatically create a direct access to this web page.
  • This method will only work if the default browser of our computer is Google Chrome, because otherwise the access will lead to this other browser software.

Microsoft Edge

Another widely used browser is Microsoft Edgethe software that replaced the classic Internet Explorer.

In order to have direct access to a website with this browser, we must follow these steps.

  • We open Edge and we enter the site what we want
  • Then click on the Three points located in the upper right corner and, among all the options that we see, we click on More tools.
  • Now we will see that we will have two possibilities as they are Pin to taskbar That is pin to start.
  • We choose the option we choose, once this access has been created, we can always move it to the desktop at any time by simply clicking on it in a row and dragging it.

Microsoft Edge also offers another way to create a shortcut and it’s similar to what we saw in Google Chrome. To know, click on the padlock, which is next to the address of the web where we are then, and we drag it to a part of the desktop where there is no icon.

As in the previous case, Edge should be the default browser for this shortcut to open with this software.

MozillaFirefox

In Mozilla Firefox we don’t have no options in the menu this allows us to generate direct access, so we will have to use the same second method that we counted in the previous cases.

We will click the lock which is right next to the name of the web page we are on, for drag it to the desktop And so I can have a shortcut of the web we were on.

Opera

We can say that this Top 4 browsers is completed by Opera, a software that has been widely used for many years now.

Just like in Firefox, Opera does not have no function in your configuration to create a shortcut to the desktop, or to the taskbar or start menu.

Therefore, the only way to do it is the same option that we had in previous browsers by clicking on the lock which is next to the URL of the website we are on, for later drag it to the desktop and for direct access to be generated automatically.

If you have a Mac

All those users who have a Mac They will also be able to create direct access to the websites they use the most and want to access faster.

For this, we only have to open web browser and access the specific page from which we want to generate said direct access.

Now in the address bar we highlight the URL (everything will be seen in blue), then drag it to the desktopin an area where there is nothing, to then release and see how the direct access occurs.

How could you read the extremely simple to get direct access to the websites that we use most on a daily basis and therefore have them always at hand.
