City of Estes Park dedicates web page to TABOR trial – Estes Park Trail-Gazette
According to a statement from the City of Estes Park, which so far has not commented on the lawsuit brought against them late last year, a web page has been created which is strictly dedicated to relaying the information on the current litigation at the Public.
“A lawsuit has been filed in Larimer County District Court against the town of Estes Park in connection with the Downtown Estes Loop project. The City does not comment on pending litigation, however, a web page has been created to make court documents easily accessible to interested parties, ”the statement said.
On January 18, the Trail-Gazette contacted attorney for the Public Trust Institute (PTI), who filed a complaint on December 3, 2020 alleging that the city knowingly violated the Taxpayer Bill of Rights of the Colorado Constitution (TABOR ) when its board of directors agreed to pay the US Department of the Interior $ 4.2 million to help fund a road construction project without voter approval.
“The court granted an extension, so nothing substantial happened,” said attorney Dan Burrows. “The city’s response or some other response is expected on January 22, so there should be something tabled this week.”
The Trail-Gazette published an article on the lawsuit against the City on the day it was filed. You can read it on https://www.eptrail.com/2020/12/03/estes-park-being-sued-for-tabor-violations/
