Why do men who cheat or don’t cheat in marriage and relationships

Statistical evidence suggests that cheating is nowhere near as prevalent among ordinary men as it appears to be among pols and jocks and high octane comedians and costumes and other Xvideos Red libidinous creatures. According to the General Social Survey conducted by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, no more than 22% of men have ever engaged in marital infidelity, and only one in 20 men unfaithful to his wife each year. .

So if a guy calls his wife to tell her he’s working late, there’s a 95% chance he’s chained to his desk and not dating the new marriageable recruit in Creative Services. (Men are more likely to go astray than women – or at least more likely to admit it – although the gender gap may be narrowing, the survey found: Almost 15% of women say they have cheated.)

Our natural instinct is to believe that loyal men adore their wives, are blissfully happy in their relationships, and would never dream of having fun, as it would violate their personal moral code. You can build entire societies around lies like this. These men are ready to work for succeed in a marriage. For them, marriage is not a trifle, not a lark. Following this logic, men who do not cheat are first class human beings.

But are they? All? Truly?

Over the years, I have met a few guys who cheat on their wives and quite a few who don’t. Or let’s just say I think not. But is it possible that these husbands refrain from cheating not so much because they love their wives, and not even because they regard cheating as immoral, but for other, less laudable reasons? Consider, if only for the sake of argument, the following explanations of why some men are loyal to their wives:

A lot of men are incredibly lazy

Men like to slouch on the couch, watch sports and drink beer. Romance, on the other hand, takes a lot of work; take a shower, shave, put on deodorant, put on something other than sweatpants, buy flowers, go to the movies, read a book every now and then, think of compliments, strike up a conversation. Cheating on your wife involves travel, dinner reservations, hotel room reservations. Once a man has been married a few decades, the energy he would need to devote to an extramarital affair could come as a fatal shock to his nervous system. It would be like asking the Sahara to suddenly burst foliage. That’s why so many older men wouldn’t even think about cheating on their wives. It’s too exhausting.
